Katmai National Park: A wilderness park with abundant wildlife
including the Alaska brown bear. The "Valley of 10,000 Smokes"
and dormant and active volcanoes of the Aleutian Range.

Take off by seaplane for an all day bear viewing expedition past glaciers
and volcanoes to the land of the giants, the brown bear country of
southwest Alaska. Explore this unique area by air with your pilot who will fly
you to places like Lake Illiamna, Katmai National Park, and Lake Clark, or
wherever we may find the highest concentration of bears. During your
200-mile safari, numerous bears can typically be spotted from the air as
they fish streams teeming with salmon or roam the expansive coast.

Enjoy a hearty picnic lunch complete with refreshments. At the end of the
afternoon, it's back to Anchorage and an end to a most memorable day!

Bear Viewing / National History Tour

Enjoy a guided day tour with the opportunity to view Alaska's brown bears
in their natural habitat. Fly 70 miles southwest of Anchorage to the
entrance of Lake Clark Wilderness Preserve, home of the Redoubt Bay
Lodge and incredible bear viewing. An experienced natural history guide will
take you by boat through bear country. Look for bears as they fish for
salmon, and watch for other wildlife along the way. Lunch included.

3 Day/2 Night Tour from Anchorage
This tour package includes round trip air transportation between
Anchorage and Brooks Lodge, two nights lodging, all park fees,
taxes and the "Valley of 10,000 Smokes" Natural History Tour.
Meals are not included. Daily departures are available.

DAY 1: Fly from Anchorage to King Salmon where you will transfer
to a seaplane for the short scenic flight to Brooks Lodge. The
afternoon is yours to use as you wish. You may want to wet a line
or join the afternoon nature walk led by a National Park Service
naturalist. There are slide shows, films, lectures, sunsets and a bar
for evening enjoyment.

DAY 2: Meet the tour at the lower viewing platform at 8:30am for
the "Valley of 10,000 Smokes" Natural History Tour. During the
full-day tour you will have the opportunity to view a variety of
wildlife and walk upon the ash and pumice moonscape of the "Valley
of 10,000 Smokes". Lunch is included on the tour.

DAY 3: Spend your last few hours in Katmai pursuing your own
interests. Take a last walk to Brooks Falls, snap a few last photos
or visit the "Trading Post" where souvenirs and post cards may be
purchased. All too soon it's time to say your good-byes and head
back to Anchorage.
